Hi, my name is Jody and I’m an International Relations and Politics undergraduate at the University of Sheffield. I’m from a little market town called Wallingford in South Oxfordshire and I’ve lived there all my life. As well as Model UN I’ve also done European Youth Parliament and many British Parliamentary debates. I am really interested by contemporary security issues and the limitations of global institutions- I like chairing as I’m always surprised at the innovative way delegates manage to overcome them! I also have many hobbies such as cue sports and hiking. One fact that surprises most people is that one of my first paying jobs was performing as a Drag Queen!
Hi! I am Azhar a first year BA Politics and Social Policy student at the University of Leeds, and an international student from Singapore. My interests in politics range from the political institutions within a state to the welfare policy of a state. In politics, I am mostly interested in the politics of Muslim-majority countries, their development and their Islamic (political) principles. In social policy, I am particularly interested in understanding the effectiveness of investing in indirect welfare provisions as opposed to the distribution of cash benefits. In my leisure time, I enjoy reading postcolonial English literature by Indian authors. My other hobbies include watching tech-related reviews on YouTube, watching Tamil movies, and skimming through news articles while listening to musical masterpieces by A.R. Rahman. I occasionally go on 3 mile jogs to feel like a healthy person.
